Former senior policy maker at the heart of government in the UK, and Chair of the OECD Rural Working Party. Awarded hon membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute after steering Ministerial reform of the land use planning processes in the 1990s. More recently engaged in European research projects on future land use as well as their assessment. Currently chairing an EC advisory group, and leading a review of processes to try to encourage woodland planting for global and profitable justification.
