Professor Muhammad Qasim is a Pakistani National. He did his PhD from University of Leeds UK and Postdoc from Hokkaido University Japan. Currently he is serving University of Swat, Pakistan as Chairman Department of Environmental and Conservation Sciences.
Dr Qasim has been working on Land Use Systems in Hindu Kush Himalayas, Climate Change, Forests Hydrology and Upland Agriculture and Livelihoods.

A new article in Remote Sensing Applications: Society and Environment finds significant impacts of melting snow and glaciers in the region. Based on the study, it is recommended to enhance institutional capacity in the country to face different environmental hazards, including early warning systems on the local scale.
