Prof. Dr. Gilberto Câmara works at Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research (INPE). Gilberto is a leading researcher in Geoinformatics, Geographical Information Science, and Land Use Change, who is also internationally recognised for promoting free access and open source software for Earth observation data. He has advised 54 graduate students and published over 230 scholarly papers. His current scientific work focuses on modelling the trade-offs between agricultural production and environment protection in Brazil, and on machine learning methods for big Earth observation data analysis.
