Dr. Erin L. Bunting is the Director of RS&GIS, in addition to being an assistant professor at MSU. She has more than a decade of experience in geospatial applications including an extensive research and teaching portfolio. Erin’s research background is broad including remote sensing application (time series analysis, land cover mapping, image interpretation, raster data pre-processing, and next spectral metric development), time series statistic development, coding (Java, R, C++, Python, and Fortran), GIS, climatology, and ecology / environmental science. Erin has vast experience in field data collection working with ArcGIS collector and Open Data Kit (cloud based field data collection). During her career, she has conducted extensive fieldwork / field experiments across southern Africa, South America, the southeastern U.S., and the southwestern U.S. Erin has taught courses on introductory and advanced remote at the University level. Additionally, she has taught Introduction to GIS and GIS in research at the University level and with practitioners / land managers. At RS&GIS, Erin oversees projects from the developer and analyst teams and also works on project development and outreach activities.
