I am a terrestrial ecologist with expertise in African woodland ecology, ecosystem services, and land use change. My PhD was on carbon dynamics of African miombo woodlands, and my postdoctoral research is working to understand how land use change is changing ecosystem services and human well-being of the rural poor in Mozambique. Previous work also includes developing a greenhouse gas accounting tool for Climate Smart Agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa. I have extensive fieldwork experience working in southern Africa. I have a continued interest in global change, forest ecology, ecosystem processes, ecosystem services, human well-being and land use change.
