Sheikh Adil Edrisi is a research fellow at the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development, Banaras Hindu University. Currently, his research focus is toward the sustainability of biomass and biofuel production from marginal and degraded lands of India. More particularly his research is related to the field of lignocellulosic biomass production under extreme environmental conditions, particularly from the marginal and degraded lands. His work is intended to resolve the conflict between food and fuel production, and to provide multipurpose environmental benefits from the produced value-added products. Recently, he has been awarded at the national level from a Travel Grants (DST-SERB) to present his research work at the International Platform (Slovenia, Europe) and awarded as the NASI-Springer Award (2018) from the National Academy of Science, India. Also, he has been awarded for other best presentation awards in National and International conference in India. He has now been recognized as a review editor in the prestigious journals like Frontiers of energy research and Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology and also involved as a contributor and reviewer of various International peer-reviewed journals of various publishers such as Plos, Nature Publishing Group, Springer, Elsevier, Frontiers, SAGE and International Reports particularly the Renewable Energy Policy Network of 21st Century (REN21+). Currently, he is also a member of Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative, IUCN-Commission for Ecosystem Management (IUCN-CEM) in thematic groups of Dryland Ecosystems, Ecosystem Restoration, Sustainable Use & Management of Ecosystems and lastly the member of Young Professional Network (IUCN-CEM).
