My research looks at drivers of land-use/cover changes in Mainland Southeast Asia. In the past I have also worked in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Madagascar, and West Africa. I have been specifically interested in the changes going on in swidden agriculture systems and the role that increased connectivity, through the creation of transportation and development corridors, plays in driving land-use and land-cover changes in the region.
