Dr. Piyush Malaviya has earned his Doctorate in Environmental Science from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, India in the year 2001. He is a Professor in the Department of Environmental Science, University of Jammu. He has significantly contributed to the field of Environmental contaminant remediation. Prof. Malaviya has worked on bioremediation and phytoremediation of industrial wastewaters, the impact of industrial pollution on plants, ecological footprint, and the socio-environmental vulnerabilities of the urban poor.
Dr. Malaviya has been awarded Dr. K. S. Krishnan Research Fellowship in Environmental Science, a very prestigious fellowship of the Government of India, funded by the Department of Atomic Energy. He got UGC Raman Post-Doctoral Fellowship, to work at Texas Tech University, USA. Prof. Malaviya was also awarded Erasmus Mundus Fellowship, by European Union to pursue his post-doctoral research in the area of bioremediation at University of Warsaw, Poland. He has also been conferred with UGC Research Award to work on industrial wastewater bioremediation and subsequently, the Annual Quality Assurance Award of University of Jammu for the year 2016. Prof. Malaviya has been awarded “OPCW Fellowship” by Office for Prevention of Chemical Weapons, The Netherlands to attend the International Contaminated Site Remediation Conference in Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. Malaviya has completed research projects worth over 50 lacs. He has published more than sixty research and review papers in various high-impact national and international journals with a cumulative impact factor of >95. Moreover, he has authored five books on diverse aspects of environmental science. He has successfully guided students for four Ph.D. and ten M.Phil. degrees. Prof. Piyush is an expert reviewer and editorial board member of many international journals.
