Dr. Teiji Watanabe, a geographer with a background in alpine geomorphology, specializes in mountain geoecology, with interests in interaction of human-geoecosystems in high mountain areas, ecotourism and geoecotourism, and natural resource management in protected areas and geoparks. He has conducted extensive fieldwork in the Himalaya, the Pamir, the Alps, Karakoram, and Japanese mountains.
