Related GLP Member: Diana Sietz

Diana Sietz has been selected to be a lead author of the thematic assessment of the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food and health (Nexus assessment) of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). The Nexus assessment will examine the interdependencies between biodiversity, climate change, adaptation and mitigation. Focusing on biodiversity and nature’s contributions to people, the Nexus assessment will reveal the current knowledge, including indigenous and local knowledge, with regard to past and present dynamics and possible future trends in the multi-scale interlinkages. It will provide the basis for informing policy development and practical actions. Critical thresholds, feedbacks and resilience in the nexus interlinkages will be highlighted and opportunities, synergies and trade-offs between different response options will receive particular attention. The final assessment report will be presented for approval to the IPBES Plenary at its eleventh session (IPBES 11), tentatively scheduled for the end of 2024.
