Call for papers: Special Issue on Managing Agroecosystems for Food and Nutritional Security

Related GLP Member: P.C. Abhilash

Agroecosystems are coupled human-natural production systems for meeting the food, fuel, fiber, and fodder requirements of the growing human populations. They represent ~40% of terrestrial systems, play a pivotal role in trace gases emission and influencing the quality and usage of critical natural resources including water, soil, biodiversity etc. Though sustainable management of agroecosystems are imperative for attaining UN-SDGs, they are constantly under degradation due to multiple drivers of changes such as pollution, climate change, and unsustainable land-use practices etc. Therefore, cooperative efforts at national, regional and global levels are imperative for managing agroecosystems to meet out the global goals. This Special Issue aims to publish sustainable practices from various agroecological regions of the world for managing agroecosystem for achieving food and nutritional security and also the targets of the International Decade of Ecosystem Restoration. Specifically, we welcome the Research ArticlesReviewMeta-analysis and Graphical Review pertaining to the following aspects:

  • Agroecosystems and UN-SDGs
  • Socio-economic and ecological complexities in agroecosystem management
  • Integrated agriscape management for regaining ecosystem services
  • Agrobiodiversity management for food and nutritional security
  • Nature-based solutions and utilizing indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) and biocultural diversity for sustainable agricultural production
  • Resource conserving and climate-resilient agricultural production
  • Cleaner and planet friendly agricultural production technologies
  • Strategies for restoring degraded agroecosystems during UN-International Decade of Ecosystem Restoration
