GC054 - Linkages across climate, hydrologic, and agricultural systems

Abstract: Climate, hydrologic, and agricultural systems are inextricably linked. Climate change is significantly impacting agricultural yields through warming temperatures and changes in the amount and distribution of rainfall. Simultaneously, freshwater systems are being impacted as more irrigation is used to maintain agricultural production in the face of increased crop water demand and changes in the frequency of droughts and dry spells. Such large-scale irrigation use can subsequently impact climate by altering surface temperature and the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere. We invite submissions that examine linkages across climate, hydrologic, and agricultural systems using a range of experimental, observational, or process-based models in agricultural regions across the globe.
