Professor of Spatial Development
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatics Engineering (www.baug.ethz.ch) of ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position at the Institute for Spatial and Landscape Development (www.irl.ethz.ch).
The new professor is expected to develop a strong and visible research programme in the area of sustainable spatial transformation with a focus on novel modelling and simulation approaches based on economic and/or social theories. Relevant research areas include, but are not limited to integrated spatial, transportation and economic development, and the development of innovative methods and instruments for an integrated spatial planning across scales.
The successful candidate holds a PhD and has an excellent record of accomplishments in spatial planning, spatial econometrics, or a similar field. An interest in the Swiss federal system with 26 cantons and over 2000 communities, which makes the coordination of spatially relevant problems extremely challenging, would be an advantage, but not a requirement. The future professor is expected to establish an attractive teaching programme and must be committed to excellence in education, as well as promote, execute and apply modern teaching methods. He or she will be expected to teach undergraduate level courses (German or English) and graduate level courses (English) – in particular the MSc in Spatial Development and Infrastructure System. The professorship will be also responsible for the MAS/DAS/CAS programmes in spatial planning.
Please apply online at www.facultyaffairs.ethz.ch
Applications include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a project list, a statement of future research and teaching interests, and a description of the three most important achievements. The letter of application should be addressed to the President of ETH Zurich, Prof. Dr. Lino Guzzella. The closing date for applications is 15 March 2017. ETH Zurich is an equal opportunity and family friendly employer and is responsive to the needs of dual career couples. We specifically encourage women to apply.
