The Department of Environmental Sciences at Emory University seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate focused on agricultural diversification. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will join an interdisciplinary and trans-institutional project integrating big geospatial data with qualitative data to model and understand the interactions between climate, land use, and agroecological outcomes. This individual will assist with survey design, conduct key informant interviews, and moderate focus groups exploring the barriers and bridges to the diversification of agricultural landscapes.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be mentored by Dr. Emily Burchfield who has teaching and research interests in sustainable food systems, spatial data science, and mixed methods research. In addition to their research, the individual will be encouraged to mentor talented undergraduates, guest lecture in classes, and develop innovative pedagogy at a leading liberal arts institution. The position will last one year, renewable for at least one additional year contingent on satisfactory progress.
Candidates should have a PhD in the social sciences, environmental sciences, or agricultural sciences. Demonstrated qualitative research experience is a must, with a preference for candidates who have experience working in U.S. agricultural systems. Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the start date.
Start date: August 1, 2021 (flexible, with earliest start date in January 2021)
Term: 1 year 1.00 FTE, renewable based on performance
