The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences is a vibrant, multidisciplinary School with extensive teaching and research programs covering the fields of Geology, Geography, Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety Sciences and Planning.
The candidate will apply novel remote sensing techniques for large area – long time series data, as well as economics and social metrics, to detect uncontested lands. Then look at prioritising uncontested lands for conservation based on estimates of ecological restoration and costs. They will provide supervision to RhD students on the project and play a role in coordinating the project under the supervision of Dr McDonald-Madden.
Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of remote sensing, GIS, economics, ecology modelling or a closely related discipline. You should also have research experiences with automated collection and processing of global satellite image times series to deliver maps and analytics. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with various colleagues and stakeholders.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
This is a full-time fixed term appointment for two years at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $81,545.80 - $87,535.13 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $95, 408.58 - $102416.1 p.a.).
