Job description: We seek a post-doctoral research associate with expertise in remote sensing of vegetation to contribute to a range of projects on land use change and carbon stocks in Africa. Specifically, we seek experience of using radar remote sensing to map vegetation change and for land cover classifications. The post holder will work as part of a team, contributing to projects on sustainable resource management and woody biomass change mapping. There will be opportunities to extend this work beyond this 15 month contract with new, recently funded similar projects. You will join a team of experts in remote sensing, land use change, and ecosystem ecology and there is potential for fieldwork as part of work validating remote sensing analyses. Ideally you will have doctoral or similar experience of using remote sensing to map vegetation and an interest in the ecology and land use of the dry tropics.
This is a full time position, available for 15 months.
Salary: £33,797 to £40,322 per annum
Closing date: Wednesday 9th September 2020 at 5pm (GMT).
