Post doc position on modelling carbon in agroforestry systems

Organization

The University of Edinburgh

Deadline

Thursday, January 26, 2023

Start Date

Wednesday, March 1, 2023

Casey Ryan and the LANDteam research group seek a 17-month post-doctoral research associate with expertise in modelling, agriculture and soil carbon dynamics. The post holder will work with the Cool Farm Alliance to develop new ways of assessing the soil carbon impacts agroforestry and other perennial crops. The post is a core part of the development of the Cool Farm Tool, a carbon accounting tool used by many large and small farmers and corporates. There will be an opportunity to collaborate closely with Cool Farm Tool users and developers to ensure the latest science is used to support farmers to make informed decisions about how their practices influences soil carbon stocks. You will be based at the University of Edinburgh but will work closely with the Cool Farm Alliance.

They are looking for someone with experience of numerical modelling and with expertise in the terrestrial carbon cycle. This post will open up lots of further opportunities for translational science, and so will suit someone who wants to put science into action and support sustainable agriculture.
