Conservation International (CI) has been protecting nature for the benefit of all for over 30 years. Through science, policy, and partnerships, CI is helping build a healthier, more prosperous and more productive planet. 


The Development Director for The Betty and Gordon Moore Center for Science (MCS) leads fundraising activities for the Center, with a divisional goal to raise funds from private foundations, corporations, individuals, and public funding agencies to support CI’s science initiatives. The position supports the MCS Senior Vice President in developing and implementing a fundraising strategy, growing the donor pipeline, managing proposal processes, and serving as the fundraising focal point with CI fundraising departments.  

The Development Director also supports the MCS Senior Vice President to manage and strengthen the CI Science Advisory Board, which is comprised of CI Board members and other global corporate, government, university, and civil society leaders.

This position may have the opportunity to supervise staff.

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and adaptively manage a fundraising strategy for the Moore Center for Science (MCS).
  • Raise revenue for MCS initiatives
  • Build a strong pipeline of donor accounts and work with senior CI development staff to refine existing and new donor fundraising strategies.
  • Manage and support the development of concept papers and proposals.
  • Ensure high-quality stewardship and management of existing donors and grants in portfolio.
  • Track fundraising efforts in Raiser’s Edge or related database.
  • Prepare fundraising progress reports and analyses.
  • Serve as liaison between Moore Center for Science and other internal CI divisions, including Development and Events staff
  • Manage and steward CI's Science Advisory Board, organize virtual and in-person meetings, and serve as relationship manager for members
  • Other duties as assigned
