The School of Geography and the Environment seeks an exceptional candidate for the role of Departmental Lecturer in Human Geography.  This is a departmental lectureship with a primary focus on teaching. Preference may be given to candidates who focus on one or both of the following areas: policy-related geographies; digital geographies and methods.

Under the direction of the Head of School, the successful candidate will contribute to teaching Human Geography at undergraduate and graduate level, including lecturing and small-group teaching, marking, supervision and contributing to fieldtrips. The successful candidate will have a publication record commensurate with their career stage, within the field of the Human Geography. As a secondary priority to teaching, the post holder will conduct independent research.

Applicants must hold, or be close to completing, a PhD/DPhil in human geography or a closely related field and should have teaching experience and expertise appropriate to their career stage. You will have experience of qualitative/quantitative research and analytical techniques. You will have a publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field. You will also need to demonstrate the ability or potential to be an effective teacher of undergraduate and graduate students of high ability, to lecture at an appropriate level in an interesting and engaging manner, and to carry out student assessment, examination and course design.
