How do ecosystem state and function and ecosystem functional diversity interact? What is the role of animals for carbon and nitrogen turnover? Does altering heterotrophic composition in an ecosystem affect carbon cycle climate feedbacks?
The work is based at the KIT’s department of Atmospheric Environmental Research in Garmisch‐Partenkirchen, Germany, and will be done in close collaboration with groups world‐wide, especially in Sweden, and the UK.
