Dear Colleagues,

I would like to invite you to the Land webinar - Sustainable Development of Global Oil Palm Plantations: Applications of Remote Sensing. It is the first of a planned series dealing with different focus topics of interest to the broad readership of our journal. This forum intends to briefly highlight exciting topics in a comprehensive but efficient manner, the event will last for two hours, which includes time for the discussion of presentations.

Oil palm is one of the world's major vegetable oil crops and has expanded exponentially to meet increased demand over past decades. Sustainable oil palm production is a key issue in global biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.

The highlights of this webinar including:
(1) Earth observation technology for oil palm studies: from academicians’ perspective
(2) Oil palm plantation mapping with advanced spatial technologies
(3) Remote sensing technologies and applications: practical solutions for the oil palm industry

We will record the lectures, with the agreement of the lecturers, and deposit them in our online database. We will continue to build this database with brief introductions and summaries of topics across this fascinating field of land science. We hope that this event is of interest to you, and we welcome you to join us at this forum.
