On 29–30 January 2024, Dr Rachael Garrett, Dr Casey Ryan, Dr Ariane de Bremond, and Dr Patrick Meyfroidt will lead a residential Theo Murphy scientific meeting in Cambridge, on the topic of policies for sustainable land systems.

This scientific meeting will explore the following questions: What do the ten facts about land systems mean for land system policy design and implementation? How do these facts influence policy goals, policy processes, and the governance scale?

Speakers will attempt to derive some initial principles for a sustainable and just land system policy. The discussion will include a deep dive into four policy themes: indigenous governance in Amazonia, rewilding in Scotland, agricultural policies in the Global North, and global carbon markets and financing.

This meeting is free to attend and is intended for researchers in relevant fields. Advance registration is essential. In-person and online attendance is available.
